i have been working on redeigning entropy8.com from the ground up. experience
has taught me that the most important parts of webdesign are organization and
finding ways of drawing people into the fantasy you are trying to create. so
alot of my site is about that at the moment.
most of my current stuff has been working with artist Michael Samyn
(http://www.zuper.com) on our co-habitated domain entropy8zuper!
(http://www.entropy8zuper.org) we are both very into creating an experience for
the viewer which leaves a lasting impression. we both operate as designers and
programmers. we trust each others skills and develop the interactive stories
contained on the site.
our current project is called wirefire (http://www.entropy8zuper.org/wirefire)
it is a streaming shockwave Flash engine where through the browser we are able
to make animations and sounds combine in fascinating ways. we conduct
performances every week and anyone on the web can come and watch the show.

i have been into computer graphics since i was in college. i think 1990 was the
first year i really started playing with photoshop. i was interested in it
because at the time "computer art" had a bad reputation. many people didn't see
computers as a way to make artwoks at all. i was fasinated by computers as a
tool and wanted to see what could be done. i have always been one to take
something i don't understand and work at it until i have figured it out.
digital media has been like that for me.

been into 3-d lately so using Infini-D and a cute program i picked up called
Tree (see medusa.jpgs.)
but as always using photoshop alot.
bbedit for coding.
finally feeling like a master of Flash as well.

the primary goal is to find ways to tap into peoples emotions through the web.
to do more than just communicate with words and images but to be evokative and
bring the users heart and mind into the experience.

i would say that working with Michael Samyn has influenced me the most as he
has shown me alot about how to add life to the code. for one thing i use alot
more audio now than i used to. when we work together we explore the tricks to
create environments online. figuring out the keys to emotional computing.

attention to the details of the user experience. eveything the user does, sees,
and , feels on a website are important.

myths, oral histories,
But one continued fascination of mine is computer generated writing and
computer mediated consciusness, artificial intelligence, telepresence.
I get inspired ideas when I wake up in the morning. Not quite asleep, not quite awake.

go ahead and use it if you're ready.
answers to questions....
--------| auriea-harvey.womanonfire.Entropy8.location = http://www.entropy8.com
--------| if ( 1 + 1 == 1 ) { e8z = true; }; http://www.entropy8zuper.org
--------| Living within the network. Travelling in the world. Ancient
technology, future technology. Experimentation.
--------| I try to think of what I would like to see. If there is a
client I balance this vision with what their expectations are. Lately, I
like to make works which are immersive and unexpectedly rich so I end up
spending alot of time on the graphic/audio mix. Texture and metaphor must
be married to the content. I am trying hard not to make meaningless
sites.
--------| Photoshop because its the easiest way to get the job done.
--------| BBedit because i love the code.
--------| Flash because I have to. (nobody has the guts to make a competitor with a better interface... sigh..)
--------| Quicktime, AfterEffects, RotoWeb because online video is the future of the net.
--------| Netscape, until someone comes out with a faster browser that works with scripting and code,
that is the same across all platforms, consistent with some sort of standards, and makes debugging easier.
(or at least one of these things)
--------| Illustrator because what else is there?
--------| ImageReady because it works.
--------| Oculus, SiteCam because i love to webcast.
--------| its imperminence. its immortality.
--------| design is everywhere.
